CHAIN HOME TRANSMITTER TOWER 1937

Chain Home Transmitter Tower 1937
Chain Home was the UK’s radar defence system during World War II and formed an arc around the British Coast. Standing 110 metres high, this is the only Chain Home radar tower remaining in its original form. In 1956, this tower was moved from its original site on the Essex coast to the former Marconi Research Laboratories (now BAE SYSTEMS ATC) at Gt Baddow, Chelmsford, where it stands today.
