GEC METERS
Pictured are two examples from the GEC Archives'
collection of measuring instruments. The smaller meter (right) is a Linesman's
Differential Galvanometer. Although in the style of a World War I piece, the GEC
logo suggests a date in the 1920s. The meter usually came with a leather pouch
which could be attached to the linesman's belt to leave his hands free whilst
climbing telegraph poles. On the left is a wooden-cased ammeter dating from
1958. It has a leather carrying strap, hinged front cover and can measure up to
5 amps. |
